Pregnancy Massage

Massage and blood circulation The health circulation of blood is essential to the health and vitality of all the body systems. When circulation is sluggish energy levels drop, muscles may feel stiff, tired and sore, we then may experience lapses in concentration and memory, and the hair looks dull. Massage can boost the flow of blood through the body which helps to alleviate tension in the muscles, keeps the mind alert and the body active promoting a healthier sense of self.

Massage and the Lymphatic System

Massage can help to alleviate the build-up of toxic matter in the body by boosting the efficiency of the lymphatic system. The massage can help to squeeze out excess lymph from the tissue spaces and direct it to the nearest group of lymph nodes. This improved lymph flow flushes out toxins and drains excess fluid from tissues. It also helps to stimulate the body’s defence mechanisms to resist infection.

Massage and the Muscular System

If muscles are held in an abnormal state of contraction for long periods of time i.e – hunched over a steering wheel, or a computer, the flow of blood and lymph through the fibres is restricted. Under these conditions the muscles can be starved of oxygen and nutrients and toxic waste products begin to build up, causing stiffness and discomfort. The massages can help to relax tense muscles and to increase blood and lymph flow through the tissues. Increased blood flow brings oxygen and nutrients to the muscles and speeds the elimination of waste product.

Massage and the Skin

The massage has many beneficial effects on the condition of the skin and hair. As the circulation of blood and lymph is stimulated, fresh supplies of oxygen and nutrients are delivered to the cells and toxic waste is removed. This provides a healthy environment for cell regeneration and will improve the appearance of both skin and hair over a period of time.

Massage and Stress

Massage works on a physical and psychological level simultaneously. On a physical level the massage relaxes tense muscles, eases aches and pains, mobilises joints and regulates blood and lymph circulation. On a psychological level the massage gives you time to relax and unwind, allowing problems and worries to be viewed in a new light.
